Such a cheeky face. Our home is now a much safe place to be after months and months of renovation, chaos and decorating. Thank the Lord - it has been mightily stressful for us all.

Baby belly - you know he is in there. You know he is coming. You are pretty accepting of this despite the fact that none of us really know what it is going to mean for us all. I think it's safe to say we are all feeling a little trepidatious.

Establishing independent play.

We have allowed your brain to rot by letting you watch too much tv and it's become apparent recently just how much of a negative effect it has on all of us. We're making a gentle start on pulling back from screen time - not too fast as there is so much coming our way that it would be foolish to go gung ho too soon.

So far I have noticed that really it's way easier for you to adapt than it is for us. You always surprise me in the best way kiddo.

You are a beautiful little thing. You're growing up so fast and truly becoming a boy but here I can still see those baby cheeks and the sweet, round, puckered mouth that once pursed itself around my breast until you drifted off into your safest, happiest place - while I just sat there and watched you. In complete awe of you.

Life is different now but I love it just as much as those sweet days that we got to spend exclusively together. I am embracing each new stage of you that comes our way. You are like a fine wine and you just keep on getting better with age. I know now not to be melancholy as you reach new stages and as you get older [hello 3rd birthday in a few weeks' time!] - I embrace them now because I've had the privilege of seeing how there really is no need to look back, with you I can only ever look forward.

The days feel long at the moment. We're both waiting for the next chapter to start and you are eager [as am I] for my torso to be freed from pregnancy so I can get down on the floor to play with you, run with you and take the brashness of your physical play again.

Just a little while longer my sweet.

Spoils from a 2nd birthday party.

Your cousin Rudy turned two recently and this is one of the balloons that you begged to bring home with you. They provided much entertainment for several days. So much so I'm considering making a pack a balloons a handbag essential.

Counting from one to ten without peeking. Maybe. The again, maybe not...you simply cannot help yourself.

Forever my little milk fiend.

A wonderful trait that you have picked up by observing your father. Joy. Now I know why we all fall down with the same cold at the same time.

Boys. Tut.

You're fast approaching your third birthday and for the most part your second year has been enjoyable and not the torrid whirlwind of tantrums that most parents promise you it will be. Your father and I often comment to each other how lovely you are. So easy going, so pleasant, so polite. Truly a delightful little guy. And SO. MUCH. FUN!

You have dealt with everything that this last year has thrown at you with such grace. You have had moments where you have struggled but my boy I cannot hold that against you - there is so much going on in our world right now. You really have managed yourself with such honour. I am so terribly proud of you: I just know that you will be a wonderful big brother.
